About Paws on Mountains

At Paws on Mountains, we believe a walk should be more than just a potty break — it should be an adventure for the body and soul. We offer enriching outdoor experiences that support your dog’s physical health, mental stimulation, and overall well-being.

Our trail-based hikes and nature outings go beyond basic exercise. With fresh air, new terrain, and ever-changing scents, we give your dog the kind of enrichment they simply can’t get from a backyard or traditional daycare setting. Whether your pup needs a slow, sniffari-style stroll or a high-energy hike up a rugged mountain trail, our goal is to create experiences that leave them tired, happy, and truly content — mind, body, and tail.

About Me

Hey, I’m Sammi — the trail guide, treat-giver, and muddy paw cleaner behind Paws on Mountains. With over 7 years in the pet care world (including daycare, boarding, rescue work, and managing a dog bar), I’ve seen firsthand how much dogs benefit from purposeful movement, mental engagement, and outdoor enrichment.

As a solo dog mom of four, I know every pup is different. Some need a calm stroll. Others need to zoom up a mountain or sniff every tree at the park. That’s why I created Paws on Mountains — to offer customized adventures that go beyond routine walks. From structured hikes to local nature outings, I help dogs burn energy, stay stimulated, and come home fulfilled and balanced (aka: the good kind of tired).

I'm also a huge advocate for the misunderstood dogs — the anxious, reactive, or “too much” pups that often get overlooked. With years of hands-on experience fostering, volunteering, and living with behaviorally complex dogs, I’ve become an expert in navigating a wide range of temperaments with calm, capable, and compassionate care.

Let’s hit the trail (or park)—because every dog deserves fun, not just the easy ones.

At Paws on Mountains,

every adventure is pack-approved.

Lana Sky

Chief Adventure Officer

My 10-year-old pit-shepherd mix and original trail partner in crime. Lana’s my soul dog — the one who started it all.

A lake-loving, fetch-obsessed, off-leash pro who sticks to the trail and sniffs with purpose. She’s faced her fears (men in hats and tall bearded types — you know the ones) and now confidently leads the pack on hikes and camping trips like a seasoned pro. These days, you’ll find her running wild at the Whitewater Center on weekends, keeping her brother and the rest of the dog crew in line.

Lana’s motto?
Trail first. Questions later.
